Easter was immensely better when you were a kid - lots of candies and chocolates to eat and an Easter egg hunt to play with. Well, Ballie Ballerson, located at 97-113 Curtain Road London EC2A 3BS, organized an Easter event. Ballie Ballerson has an adult ball pit pub where you can go and play around at two separate ball pits to relive your childhood. One million balls are spread over two massive ball pits at this spectacular ball pit cocktail bar in Shoreditch, mixing the enchantment of childhood recollections with the pleasure of an adult brunch experience. Their trademark glow ball pit is encased in a massive mirrored cage, throbbing with the coolest coloured lights for an Instagram-worthy backdrop.
To transport us back to our innocent childhood days, they had a special Easter theme where they had a large white rabbit hopping around with gigantic carrots, and if you grabbed one of those carrots, you won a free pizza. Enjoy two hours of admission to the ball pits, with a splash of glitz. Mischievous bartenders shake theatrical cocktails like the best-selling Dibbie Dabberson and Skittle Sour, inspired by retro sweets and trickery. Aside from that, they offer a free chocolate vodka shot and other variety of candy-themed beverages like popsicles.
On the other hand, If you weren't a member of the VIP group, there wasn't much of a place to sit, in my experience. Because VIPs had the entire upstairs to themselves, there was no place below to eat and relax. If you're serious about doing so, you'll need to reserve a spot in the VIP area ahead of time.
In terms of the ball pits themselves, I preferred the smaller one. It was less chaotic and more serene than the huge ball pit. The larger ball pit was complete mayhem, with groups of individuals hurling balls at random individuals. Because some larger groups of people were there monopolizing the ball pit, it was a little difficult to appreciate it. So, I propose arriving early in the evening to enjoy the ball pits before they become congested; perhaps start with a huge ball pit and then move on to a smaller one.
Overall, being in the ball pits appears to be a fantastic idea at first, but it rapidly becomes dull because you are not permitted to drink in the ball pits, which is understandable but also makes it a bit boring. It feels great to sit in a ball pit at first, but after realizing that everyone, after roaming outside in their shoes, still has them on and getting dirt all over the balls, it makes one not want to remain in the ball pit for very long. There are also a lot of crushed balls at the bottom, so to truly move around in the ball pit is a bit tricky.
One of the wonderful things about ball pits, when you're younger, is that it is genuinely part of a playground. There are bridges, slides, small hideaways, and a variety of other activities available in addition to the ball pit. All of that is lost in this place since there is nothing but ball pits. Thus I believe that much of the fun and pleasure of ball pits gets lost here since it is simply a gimmick, and although it isn't a bad gimmick, it could be so much more. So you walk into the ball pit, play around for a while, and then get back to the regular club, which is good enough, I suppose.
The drinks and the food are pricey and not that great. The pizza was 'just okay,' and I didn't feel the 10 pounds I paid for it was justified. The equally expensive cocktails were a bit disappointing too. The fact that they were candy-themed was the most enjoyable aspect of them.
Generally, the location's aesthetics are more appealing than the actual experience of the area. It's one of those places where you go to snap amusing Instagram images to post on social media, but the experiences are more for show than actual enjoyment. So, although I wasn't too pleased, an increasing number of these Instagrammable-style businesses are springing up, and they are largely profitable. It's possible that the quality no longer matters; it's all about the appearance and feel.
