Busaba is a modern Bangkok eatery located in the center of London. It all started in 1999 when Alan Yau opened a new Thai dining concept, Busaba Eathai, on Wardour St in Soho, London.
And now, you can dine in nine branches of Busaba in the heart of London.
They believed that dishes, like those in Thailand, are meant to be shared, and it includes a delectable range of freshly cooked salads, Pad Thais, curries, and more. They seek to feed the soul, body, and mind by serving a large portion of their plant-based cuisine. Moreover, their Philosophy circles around two teachings; Gan Gin Gan Yuu and Sookjai.
Based on them, 'As you eat, so you are' is the meaning of Gan Gin Gan Yuu. It's an axiom similar to Brillat- Savarin's 'you are what you eat,' but goes beyond to indicate that your approach to food also defines you. For instance, the components you choose, how you prepare them, and how you present them all reflect who you are.
On the other hand, 'Sookjai' is Busaba's way of life. Sookjai is about avoiding the regular chaos that distracts you. Instead, concentrate on living in the moment and creating your own reality. Additionally, its literal meanings are 'to enjoy' and 'happy heart.'
As I entered the restaurant, the first thing that I noticed was that the atmosphere was really cool. The music level was great, and their choice of modern music was perfect for the background.
Additionally, the sitting was original with group-style sitting, which still felt private and intimate with the group you're with despite being on a shared table. The arrangement could also provide the perfect interfacing for connecting with other groups if you so want, but you didn't feel the pressure too. It perfectly fits their slogan, 'Happiness, meet harmony.'
As for the food, it was delicious. But the problem was the portion sizes - they were a bit small and expensive, especially the calamari appetizer, which is a squid dish. I really expected it to be a big basket of calamari instead of a small pot.
However, the banana dessert was absolutely delicious, the toffee sauce was nice and flavourful, and the egg rolls were piping hot.
That said, we had such a great time at Busaba and will definitely be back again for the good food and the vibe of the restaurant.
