Set in the 1970s and based on the well-perceived British sitcom, Fawlty Towers: The Dining Experience is the kind of comedy that has you on the floor gasping for air while holding your belly and laughing unstoppably.
The interactive show at The President Hotel stars wonderful actors Rob Langston as Basil, Leigh Kelly as Manuel, and Clare Buckingham as Sybil. The two-hour event starts with the characters greeting you and showing you to your seat while making funny quips about your dining party. All throughout the show the cast interacts with the audience, who enjoy a fantastic three course meal, while giving their amazing line deliveries. Indeed, the actors brought justice to the amusing TV show.

Speaking of the food, it was a delicious three course meal with a fabulous menu with a starter of broccoli super green soup, courgette fritters, bread and butter, a main of juicy roasted lemon & oregano half chicken, roasted potatoes, and basil infused vegetable medley - plus dessert a fantastic chocolate cheesecake with forrest berry drizzle or vegan alternatives if you prefer.
The humor of Fawlty Towers is great for people who enjoy slapstick and wordplay comedy. If you’re not a fan, then you need to have a thick skin because the main character Basil has very strong slapstick actions and wordplay remarks. While humorous to those who enjoy slapstick and wordplay, it may make some uncomfortable since Basil’s main target is his immigrant employee. This power dynamic amongst the humor may eventually struggle to maintain its sense of freshness and humor with a newer generation of audience who are likely less inclined to enjoy this kind of humor, and may find it too critical of class and migrant inequities.
Overall, opinions on humor aside, it was a fun night out with truly great acting by the cast and hilarious atmosphere all throughout the event. It was a great show to end the day.
