In honor of London Craft Week 2022, an exhibition was organized by some of Britain's best and most innovative interior design firms. Dubbed Crafted In Britain, it was a collaboration among Kingcome Sofas, Porta Romana, and Beeg X Co, and it featured some creative designs ranging from metalworking, ceramics, weaving to upholstery.
The exhibition was held at Kingcome Sofas whose mission is to uphold and promote the English furniture-making legacy by handcrafting heirloom sofas, chairs, and stools that are designed to sit comfortably in the heart of your house. They bank on their expertise to guarantee that each piece of handmade furniture represents a person's unique preferences and personality, choosing only the finest materials to produce personalised and customized furniture.
Kingcome Sofas was founded in 1971 in Totnes, Devon, by charismatic WWII flying ace Group Captain Brian Kingcome and his wife Lesley, a former Vogue model. Lesley expresses her enthusiasm for gorgeous upholstery, through one-of-a-kind couches and armchairs.
Moreover, Kingcome's tailored and handcrafted couches, seats, and stools rapidly earned them a distinct and remarkable reputation for their quality, comfort, and endurance. Kingcome quickly established itself as a British institution in the creation of the best, handcrafted, personalised and made-to-measure and customized furniture thanks to the talent and drive of the artisans in their Devonshire workshop.
On the other hand, Porta Romana, a hand finishing and painting workshop in the heart of Surrey, supports existing and new British craftsmen through weaving. They gave a one-of-a-kind lampshade-making class as part of London Craft Week where they coached us on how to build lampshades using lovely Colefax and Fowler fabrics during the two-hour course.
Begg x Co, based in the tiny Scottish coastal villages of Ayr and Hawick, the birthplace of cashmere, creates fabric for textile uses. Every item is created with great care and attention to detail. The highly talented team of weavers and knitters uses the best natural and sustainable sustainable fibres, cashmere, wool, and silk to create the most magnificent sweaters, scarves, blankets, wraps, and stoles, of impeccable quality and artistry.
