At this year’s London Craft Week Exhibition, Vigour and Skills opened its doors allowing people to explore their unique collections and hear the wonderfully inspiring stories about those behind the gorgeous collections and their amazing journeys into craft and creativity.
Vigour and Skills was founded in 2009 by textile artist, Priscilla Ingleby, who has been crafting her way through the world of textile design and textile art for over 20 years. After working for some of the world’s top brands and brands such as Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser, John Lewis and Hachette, Priscilla decided to set up her own business, Vigour and Skills.
The unique and inspirational collection of stunning jewellery and accessories was created by many different individuals in different crafts such as Madeline Adams(woodworking), Violaine Verry(ceramics) and Rosanna Clare (leather working).
The jewellery and accessories are handcrafted by a range of different crafts including metalwork, jewellery, pottery, woodwork, glazing, embroidery and knitwear. The raw materials often include gold, silver, bronze, wood, stone, copper, horn, leather, velvet, denim and printed fabrics.
Each piece of jewellery or accessory produced has a story behind it and is made with the intention of celebrating the love and support in a relationship and the craftsmanship that goes into each and every piece.
To sum up, the exhibition was great and I loved it. I was really impressed with the craftsmanship and the quality of the jewellery and accessories and the stories that were told.
