To celebrate the London Craft Week 2022, J&M Davidson showcased a number of Tal Drori's works at their Mount Street store, including an exclusive piece created specifically for London Craft Week and inspired by the brand's Spring 2022 collection.
John and Monique, a photography and artistic team, founded the company in 1984 with a single leather belt. Since then, the company has continued to draw inspiration from John's British eclectic taste and Monique's French stylish nonchalance to develop a heritage brand anchored in exquisite workmanship. The artworks are designed in London by a team whose modern take on John and Monique's affinity to accessories delivers a simple and clean style that is luxurious and accessible to everybody.
Moreover, the featured artist for this exhibition, Tal Drori, is noted for her use of fabrics, color, and shape in her work. She believes that every item has a story: a relationship, a situation, or a game. Tal’s two defining passions, color and pattern, combine to produce an atmosphere that is both coyly tongue-in-cheek and assertively contemporary.
Her art is instantly recognizable, fun, and available in a variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from scarves to pocket squares to carpets, all of which are handcrafted in her South London workshop.
Curious. Amused. Intrigued and happy - these are what Tal Drori’s hope people will feel when they see her work in the store. Based on these creative and colorful artworks, I believe she delivered what she really wanted effectively.
