At their Coal Office in London, Tom Dixon Studio hosted a great event that allowed people to see the craftsmanship behind their creations. The items on exhibit included prototypes and new products from the company. The Studio, whose creations are recognized globally, is renowned for its pioneering use of materials and techniques, with an aesthetic that is intrinsically inspired by the brand's British roots. Their style is also characterized by a minimalist aesthetic that is reflected in its collections, and by the incorporation of highly original materials.
Tom's famous S Chair was upholstered by knitwear designer Peju Obasa and leather artisans Bill Amberg Studio to commemorate the popular frame's three decades.
Their innovative, MASS solid brass collection, consists of highly polished and unique items created and manufactured in the United Kingdom from a single extruded box section of brass.
Their other collection, SWIRL has since its unveiling last year become one of the brand's most popular accessory collections. The material is made by recycling residue taken from the marble industry, mixing it with color and resin to make blocks of material that can be sliced and turned on a lathe. The process is very natural, allowing the material to be shaped according to the designer's wishes. The natural materials used give each piece its unique look.
Overall, it was a great exhibition that allowed us to see the attention to detail that Tom Dixon Studio gives to every item. I really enjoyed it and the opportunity to appreciate some of London’s top-notch craftsmanship.
