One for the Boys presents Love Life: West End Unites Against Cancer at Theatre Royal Drury Lane is a one‑night‑only West End concert bringing together a constellation of musical theatre stars for an evening of song and solidarity. Presented in support of the men’s health charity One for the Boys, this event uses music, storytelling and brilliant voices to shine a spotlight on men’s health issues and raise funds ahead of World Cancer Day. With a live orchestra, celebrated performers from hit musicals and creative direction by Rupert Hands and musical direction by Alan Williams, the evening feels like both a celebration and a call to action.

The concert opens with a delicate piano introduction before Ramin Karimloo steps into a warm wash of light, his voice cutting through the quiet with a stirring phrase that feels like a promise of what’s to come. That moment, spotlight on a single artist and a single note held just long enough, sets the tone for the night: big voices, but honest emotion. A live orchestra fills the historic space, creating layers of sound that support rather than overwhelm the singers.

What works beautifully here is the way performers shift between powerhouse numbers and quieter, more reflective pieces. When Jordan Luke Gage offers an exclusive preview of Redcliffe, the audience leans in as if you can feel the hush in the hall as his voice carries over the strings, making you hold your breath along with him. The transitions between songs are smooth, guided by a thoughtful rhythm that keeps the evening moving without ever feeling rushed.

The star‑studded line‑up, including Giles Terera MBE, Tom Francis, David Thaxton, Lucie Jones, Bella Brown and James Olivas,  brings range and texture to the programme. Each performer brings their own colours to the stage: some songs soar with bravura and flourish, while others are stripped back, personal and almost conversational in their delivery. These shifts make the concert feel like a tapestry of individual moments woven into a collective whole.

Design elements like lighting and sound are subtle but effective. Gentle washes of colour trace the arc of each piece, creating warmth in the space without distracting from the performances themselves. Sound design ensures every voice sits clearly in the mix, whether backed by full orchestration or a delicate piano line.

Ultimately, One for the Boys: Love Life succeeds not just as a concert but as an experience that blends artistry with purpose. By grounding its emotional impact in precise musical choices and heartfelt delivery, it honours the community of performers onstage and the cause it champions, making the evening truly memorable.
