It's fantastic, encouraging, and motivating - my thoughts after the gathering ended. It was an event hosted by Melonie Syrett. She created a safe and sacred space to spend the afternoon to bond with different women interested in sharing laughs and inspiring stories for the group.

A Gathering of the 'Sisters' In a Past Event

Melonie used to meet with the Sisters of the Drum once a month while she lived in London, but she found it difficult to keep up with the monthly circle once she moved away. She will now commit to a seasonal circle, which will take place four times a year rather than monthly.

She brought a lot of drums for everyone to play with and have fun with. According to Melonie, The drum's circular design denotes interconnection, while the cedar hoop and deer leather signify the First Nations' connection to the earth and animals.

The gathering included various activities such as sharing in a circle, drumming, exercising together, and singing female empowerment songs. Aside from that, there were a lot of laughs and motivating anecdotes from the different women's experiences, which opened up a lot of new perspectives for me in life. To conclude the event, we shared a community meal at which everyone contributed a dish in a potluck approach.

Also, the event's location is lovely with wonderful glass painted with flamingos, and nature. It truly helps to encapsulate the spirit of an emerging sisterhood.

Flamingo-painted Windows, Drums and other Items

It is true one of the most popular signals for bringing people together has been the sound of drums. The sound of a single heart pounding is all that counts, as they are unaffected by race, language, gender, gender choice, or human variation.
