Sticks 'N' Sushi is an amazing Japanese restaurant in Convent Garden that's growing in popularity, with new locations opening across the city and glowing reviews for innovative and sensational food. The success is due to its consistently excellent sushi and yakitori selected from a beautifully photographed menu that will make your mouth water. Stick n Sushi first opened in Copenhagen in the 1990s with the goal of bringing some excitement to the UK culinary scene, and there are now more than 20 locations across the UK, Denmark, and Germany.
The concept is simple but effective: diners can choose from a large selection of Japanese sticks, fresh sushi, and colourful salads.
The menu is extensive but helpfully photographic, allowing you to study a colourful, high-definition image of a dish before placing an order. We began with ebi bites and grilled edamame beans, which we convinced ourselves were still healthy despite being slathered in delicious butter. The scallops, rice paper duck rolls, ebi roll, and spicy salmon roll were all delicious, as were the edamame with spicy sauce and the scallops with spicy sauce. We ate some delicious sushi. The fish was very fresh and prepared perfectly.
We also ordered Ramuyaki, Chiizu maki, Hotate bacon, Yaki yagi, Chicken wings and lemon.
The chicken wings with lemon were giving us classy vibes. However, we did not really like them that much because they were so small. Overall, the sticks were very good, and the standout one was chiizu maki. The sticks were big enough and had a lot of meat in them to share all of them together.
The desserts were fantastic and made the whole experience more epic. The ambience was really nice, but a couple of tealights would have enhanced it more.
Generally the cuisine was excellent, and the presentation was understated yet classy. Our cocktails were of an exceptionally high quality, and the staff were very attentive. I would most definitely recommend it to most of my friends and hope to return there in the future.
