Fortnum & Mason and QEST collborated to stage four exhibitions in the heart of their flagship shop in Piccadilly to commemorate the anniversary of The Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The shows, which ran from March to last month, highlighted the best in British creativity, craftsmanship, and making. The exhibitions culminated in the construction of a special Jubilee hamper filled with handcrafted pieces made during the four-month period.
The third floor of Fortnum & Mason hosted the exhibition series "The Art of the Exceptional, a Jubilee Celebration of Makers," showcasing their continuous dedication and love for arts and crafts. The displays, which emphasize materiality and each have a different topic, celebrate the incredible diversity within workmanship.
Each exhibition showcased the work of QEST-supported artists and delved into the specifics of their work, the materials they used, their creative process, and the stories behind their achievement.
To say the least, the events provided visitors with the excellent chance to interact with amazing artists and be inspired by the motivations behind the jubilant celebration of everything British and handmade.
Fortnum & Mason had a designated selling space on the third floor for other Royal Warrant-holding firms to display their products in an effort to improve the status of British crafts throughout this Jubilee year. They hand-selected businesses that had comparable products and skills to those displayed at the exhibitions.
The series concluded with the unveiling of the Jubilee Hamper. This happened concurrently with the "Scent of Summer" exhibition, a raucous celebration of all things floral that took place during the June Bank Holiday Jubilee Weekend. The one-off hamper was sold, and all proceeds were to be channeled oward a QEST scholarship in support of tomorrow's makers.
